Here's some nice video of trolley cars in Brooklyn, circa 1948 -- their last year of service -- travelling along 5th Avenue at Flatbush, Bergen, and 9th Street.
About half way through the film you can see the Avon Theater which was a small movie house on 9th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues that opened in 1916. It was rumored that a gangland-style execution related to prohibition took place at the theatre in the 1920's, and locals nicknamed it the "Tub o' Blood". In the 1970's, McDonalds bought the site and built a restaurant there.
The Brooklyn Dodgers took their name from the trolley cars, because fans had to "dodge" the cars to get to Ebbets field.
Thanks to Don, who digitized the film and posted it to youtube!
