Dance-crazy tots should make their way to the BK this for the Toddler Island dance party hosted by Music for Brooklyn. The West Indies-inspired shindig will be bumping Soca and Reggae tunes for youngsters to boogie to. Kids can make up their own jigs during the two-hour jam fest or learn African-Caribbean-inspired moves from instructors. And those who want to get really creative on the dance floor can add streamers, bubbles, shakers, bells and balloons to their rhumbas. Plus, Haitian drummer, Bonga will be on hand, leading a drum circle, which kids can join when they get their own music-maker. And it wouldn’t be a real Carnival without some face-painting and snacks, so the hosts are serving up tropical favorites like coconut bread and cream soda from Trinidad. The soiree even makes cleaning up fun when kids sway to the rhythm of Reggae master, Bob Marley’s, “Clean Up” song while getting end of the party chores done. Ages 1-7.
