 Brooklyn Bridge 125th Birthday Celebration


This Memorial Day weekend, come celebrate the Brooklyn Bridge's 125th birthday!

Thursday May 22:
Celebration kicks off with a free concert by the Brooklyn Philharmonic followed by fireworks and a ceremony to illuminate the bridge, which will stay lit every evening through the weekend.

Empire - Fulton Ferry State Park, doors open at 6PM, concert starts at 7:45PM, enter at Main Street, Brooklyn

Friday, May 23:
Brooklyn Bridge Film Series: open-air showing of Walt Disney Pictures’ Enchanted (2007; rated PG), a modern-day fairy tale set in Manhattan. Empire - Fulton Ferry State Park. Doors open at 6PM, film starts at 8:30PM.

Saturday, May 24:
Throughout the weekend: Brooklyn Bridge Information Tents: The American Society of Civil Engineers and the Roebling Chapter of the Society for Industrial Archeology will offer guided tours of the Bridge through Sunday, 10am–5pm. Free. (Brooklyn Bridge by Manhattan and Brooklyn-side arches)

Brooklyn Bridge Film Series at BAM: Ken Burns' documentary Brooklyn Bridge (1981). BAM, 30 Lafayette Avenue, 4:30PM.

It Happened in Brooklyn (1947) starring Frank Sinatra. Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, film begins at 8:30PM

Lecture Series at the Brooklyn Historical Society (128 Pierrepont St at Clinton Street) each hour from 1PM to 4PM with additional lectures at Surrogates Court (31 Chambers Street in Manhattan). For more info call 718-222-4111.

Brooklyn Bridge Walking Tour: Brooklyn's official historian Ron Schweiger, will give a tour of the Brooklyn Bridge at 11am. Free. Meet at Manhattan-side arch of the Brooklyn Bridge. Call 718-802-3846 for more information.

Sunday, May 25: Tour de Brooklyn: 2,000 bicyclists will ride all around Brooklyn in this leisurely 19-mile tour. For advance registration, go to tourdebrooklyn.org

By Train:
A or C train to High Street
Exit onto Cadman Plaza West. Go left, toward the BQE. Cadman Plaza West becomes Old Fulton Street as you walk down the hill. Take a right at Front Street. Take the second left at Main Street. The entrance to the Park is one block ahead at the end of Main Street.

2 or 3 to Henry Street
Exit onto Henry Street. Take a left and walk down Henry Street until you reach Cadman Plaza West/Old Fulton Street. Take a left and walk down the hill. Turn right at Front Street. Take the second left at Main Street. The entrance to the Park is one block ahead at the end of Main Street. F to York street
Walk down Jay Street 2 blocks toward the waterfront. Turn left on Water Street. Proceed straight until Main Street. Turn right. The entrance to the Park is one block ahead at the end of Main Street.

B25 to Fulton Ferry landing.
