Joey "Jaws" Chestnut eats 64 Nathan's Hot Dogs in 11 minutes to win the annual July 4th Nathan's Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest for the second year in a row.
On July 4, 2007, Chestnut won the 92nd Annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, beating six-time defending champion Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi by consuming 66 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes, which set a new world record.
In 2008, the rules changed to allow for a ten-minute long "eating period" rather than 12 minutes. Chestnut and Kobayashi tied at 59 dogs in 10 minutes. In a tie-breaker of a 1-minute eat-off, Jaws defended his title by eating an additional 5 hotdogs and buns in 60 seconds.
