 64 Hotdogs in 11 Minutes

EventsJoey "Jaws" Chestnut eats 64 Nathan's Hot Dogs in 11 minutes to win the annual July 4th Nathan's Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest for the second year in a row.

On July 4, 2007, Chestnut won the 92nd Annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, beating six-time defending champion Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi by consuming 66 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes, which set a new world record.

In 2008, the rules changed to allow for a ten-minute long "eating period" rather than 12 minutes. Chestnut and Kobayashi tied at 59 dogs in 10 minutes. In a tie-breaker of a 1-minute eat-off, Jaws defended his title by eating an additional 5 hotdogs and buns in 60 seconds.
