Hotels, Hostels and B&Bs in Brooklyn, New York

List and Map

There are about 1200 hotel rooms available in Brooklyn, and over half of those are at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott. The hotel occupancy rate in Brooklyn often runs to 80% or 85%, so making reservations well in advance is a good idea. Alternative options are the numerous Bed-and-Breakfasts, and a handful of Hostels

Be prepared for sticker shock when you check the rates at the hotels listed. Just because it's in Brooklyn doesn't mean they're going to be cheap. Most room rates are very similar to Manhattan rates, but there are a few "budget" hotels available, such as the Holiday Inn Express in Gowanus (625 Union Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues) where rooms seem to average $125 per night, before taxes. Many of these rooms show up on Priceline.com, so that is a good place to find a bargain. According to a July 2010 article in the New York Times, Brooklyn hotel occupancy rates ran about 72%, and room rates were 15% below comperable Manhattan offerings. If you're coming to visit friends or family in Brooklyn, have them go to a nearby hotel and ask if they will offer a "neighborhood discount" for the referral.

The B&B's are often a better deal, and you'll get to stay with some genuine Brooklynites who love their borough and neighborhood.
