including the NYPD, the City Marshall, and the Sheriff.
Contact your local precinct at the phone number above
to find out if your car has been towed or relocated.
If there is a film shooting in your neighborhood
look for the temporary No Parking signs

Auto Insurance in New York State
New York State law requires that motorists carry a minimum amount of liability insurance of $25,000 for bodily injury to one person, $50,000 for bodily injury to all persons, and $10,000 for property damage in any one accident. Mandatory "no-fault" coverage of $50,000 is also required.
The NYAIP (New York Automobile Insurance Plan) is a mechanism through which consumers are assigned to an insurance company on an involuntary basis, if they cannot find an insurer in the voluntary market who will offer them a policy. The NYAIP consists of those policyholders which an insurer does not believe can be insured at a reasonable profit, generally because of poor driving records, having little or no prior driving experience, or having had a certain "frequency of claims".
|BROOKLYN CENTRAL BOOKING|
People arrested by NYPD are taken first to the precinct house where the arrest occurred. In most cases, within 4 to 6 hours they are taken to Central Booking (telephone (718) 935-9249) for processing (in a very few cases for minor arrests of people who have good ID, they are issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and released from the precinct house, and will appear before a judge at a later date). Once all the paperwork and processing is completed at Central Booking (which is in the basement of the Criminal Court Building), they are held for arraignment, which is an appearance before a judge. This arraignment is probably the first time you will be able to see the arrestee. The police are permitted, but not required, to let you see somebody at the precinct house (unless the arrestee is under the age of 16).
Arraignment courts operate 7 days a week, 365 days a year, in two shifts, 8AM-5PM and 5PM-1AM.
What to do if a friend or loved-one is arrested:
First, call Central Booking (in Brooklyn the phone number is 718-935-9249) and ask for that person's Arrest Number.
Then call the Criminal Court Arraignment Clerk (in Brooklyn the phone number is (718) 643-5675) and find out when and where the person will be arraigned. If there is no Arrest Number for the person, call the court clerk and tell them that and they'll help you locate the person.
If you are unable to reach the Arraignment Clerk by phone you may go directly to the courthouse (120 Schermerhorn Street) and check the list of names that is posted outside the Arraignment Clerk's office. The name usually appears on the list a few hours before the person is brought before the judge.
